seminars(1988 – 2013)

Chiropractic Rehabilitation Association (CRA) Seminars began in 1988.
Certifications included the Certified Chiropractic Rehabilitation Doctor (CCRD) and Registered Chiropractic Rehabilitation Doctor (RCRD).

First class began in Portland, Oregon at Kim Christensen’s office.

The Pittsburg program moved to Philadelphia in 1989.

Some of the other sites were Chicago, Orlando, Kansas City and Cherry Hill, NJ.

Some of the instructors were Kim Christensen, Craig Liebenson, Jeff Tucker, John Black, Gary Ierna, Gary Jacobs, Robert Humphreys, Scott Stoner, Paul Hetrick, Clay MacDonald, Scott Banks, Paul Jaskoviak, Robert Sherman, Gary Guebert, Daniel Reyes, Glenn Harrison, Joe Horn Berger, Dan Murphy, Stanley Kaplan, Mark Terry, Rick Saluga, Mark Hendler, Guy Doran, Michael Cessna, Paul Hooper & Don Fedoryk.

1991 Gary Ierna started the American Chiropractic Educational Services (ACES) Rehab Program

Some of the instructors were Gary Ierna, Domenic Fiore, Ralph Mangels, Don Murphy, Curtis Rigney, Ivo Waerlop, Christos Vasakiris, and Alex Sheehan

A Field Study head by Jay Triano was performed in 1994.

Some of the early Colleges were NWCC, CMCC, LACC, WSCC, Palmer, Cleveland and Parker

George Petruska recruited in 1994 all of the Rehab doctors to join the American Chiropractic Association and the Council on Physiological Therapeutics at the ACA meeting in Nashville, Tn. Kim Christensen was elected President in 1994 (Term: 1994 – 1998), Paul Hetrick was elected as Vice President and Carol Krol was elected as Secretary/Treasurer.

John Rizzotto, George Petruska and Linda Zange updated the council bylaws. Kim Christensen presented them and got them approved by the ACA.

The first Delphi Study was May 13, 1995 chaired by Jay Triano in Dallas, Texas

The participants met again in Washington on July 3 1995 at ACA meeting.

ACA approved the Council on Physiological Therapeutics and Rehabilitation (CCPTR) and there updated bylaws at this annual meeting.

Kim Christensen as President of the CCPTR appointed the inaugural Rehab Board members which became the ACRB.

George Petruska set up a Rehab meeting between Kim Christensen, Craig Liebenson and Gary Ierna leading to Rehab unity.

Some of the original ACRB members were Terry Shaw, James Ropicky, Fred Deutsch, George Petruska, John Rizzotto, Brad Wildberg and Andy Krashnak.

John Rizzotto and George Petruska wrote the ACRB, bylaws, Standards, Policies and Procedures based on NOCA Guidelines and NCCA Standards, Policies and Procedures.

The Ontario Chiropractic Association appointed a Committee consisting of Dr. Ed Shane, Dr. Zoltan Szaraz, Dr. Deb Kopansky-Giles and Dr. Bob Gringmuth to look at a similar program in Canada. Board certification in Canada is known as Fellowship.

George Petruska became the consultant to the Canadian Chiropractic College of Rehabilitation Sciences.

Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) accepted the Canadian Chiropractic College of Rehabilitation Sciences’-CCRS(C) application for recognition as a chiropractic specialty in Canada.

Ed Shane was elected as its inaugural President.

Since its inception, the CCRS(C) has grown to be the largest of all the chiropractic specialty programs in Canada with certification of over 100 current Fellows.

Since then Craig Liebenson has taught Rehab program in Australia and Europe.

First Annual Rehab Symposium took place in 2000 in Orlando, Florida.

Jan Sharp was elected as the first female President in 1998 (Term: 1998 – 2002).

Don Fedoryk appointed the Acupuncture College which became the Acupuncture Council and Acupuncture Board. Don Fedoryk appointed Jan Sharp and George Petruska as their consultant. Don also established the first Taxonomy Code for chiropractors, “111NR0400X” – chiropractic rehabilitation.

Dave Juehring led the new Field and Delphi Studies in 2002 with John Rizzotto, based on NOCA Guidelines and NCCA Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Don Fedoryk became President in 2002 (Term: 2002 – 2006).

John Rizzotto died August 5, 2002.

Dave Juehring and George Petruska edited the Standards, Policies and Procedures in Orlando in 2003. Jerrold Simon began the Rehab Network e-Newsletter in 2004.

ACA Rehab Council passed a Bylaws Amendment in late 2005 that extended the Executive Committee terms from 2 years to 3 years with a two term limit.

George Petruska became President in 2006 (Term: 2006 – 2012). Alf Garbutt, with the help of Scott Elkin, re-developed the Rehab Council website, www.ccptr.org in 2007.

Craig Liebenson began the International Society of Clinical Rehabilitation Specialists (ISCRS) program in 2007. Alf Garbutt became the founder and first editor of the newly established Journal of the North American Rehab Specialist in 2007. Annette Simon created the new Rehab Journal logo & began designing all of the annual Rehab Symposium brochures.

Jerrold Simon secured the trademark for the Journal of the North American Rehab Specialist in 2009. Dave Juehring developed the new Field Study and Delphi Study in 2009.

Jeff Tucker and George Petruska developed, in 2011, the new Rehab certification program based on ACRB Guidelines from the new Field and Delphi Studies.

Jeff Tucker and George Petruska also developed, in 2011, the Accelerated Rehab Program based on ACRB Guidelines from the new Field and Delphi Studies for doctors who were given advanced standing by the ACRB.

Jerrold Simon became President in 2012 (Term: 2012 – 2015).
