Symposium Recap

The 19th Annual ACA Rehabilitation Symposium was held at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The well attended event offered a number of great opportunities.

Dr. Michele Maiers (Rehab Researcher of the Year Award recipient) reviewed the best available evidence to consider for active care strategies of patients. It was an honest look at what we do for our patients and how we can embrace an evidence-informed model of care.

Dr. Jeffrey Tucker got everyone moving showcasing his spirited approach to resistance band training. From isolated motions to complex integrated patterns, only your imagination can restrict your prescriptions with band work. [Check our Facebook page for interactive photos]

Dr. Mitch Mally gave a conceptual introduction to his coveted adjusting strategies. He even provided demo's during vendor breaks and counseled docs on his approach.

Eric Cressey used athlete volunteers in real time to unravel the complexities of the shoulder in overhead athletes. His expert approach gave docs many usuable pearls.

Dr. Steven Weininger conducted an engaging workshop implicating posture assessment and management as an integral part of the rehab professional's toolbox.

Dr. William Morgan offered his low back and disc management presentation. During which, the audience revealed interest in his neurologic exam... a teaser for 2019?

In addition to the election of our new Executive Board, there were a number of docs recognized for outstanding achievement in the profession. Recipients included:

  • Dr. Scott Schreiber - Rehab Chiropractor of the Year
  • Dr. Alf Garbutt - President's Award
  • Dr. Michele Maiers - Rehab Researcher of the Year
  • Scott Colello - Student Poster Contest Winner

Not only were the speakers great, but the weekend was filled with social and networking opportunities for all. New innovations were explored by some of our newer sponsors [complete list of sponsors]. Students impressed at the poster presentations. And friends, old and new, ventured out to partake in some classic Vegas activities. The symposium was a huge success in no small part by our membership of world-class rehab professionals. We're excited and looking to surpass expectation at next year’s 20th annual symposium March 8-10th in Orlando FL at the Wyndham.

See you there!
